NYC x Zeppelin

Turns out NYC is a great place to be if you’re a Zeppelin fan.

Last night we took in a Rangers game at Madison Square Garden which has always been a bucket list item for me. Not because I love hockey, but because as a kid I was obsessed (and still am) with Zeppelin. I don’t really remember what age I was when my old man first showed me the, “Song Remains the Same” soundtrack, but if I had to guess, it was around 8-years-old.

As you probably know, the soundtrack for the movie, released under the same name, was of a live performance which was filmed/recorded at Madison Square Garden across 3 nights in 1973 (July 27th and July 29th). It is Zeppelin’s only live album and, in my opinion, one of the greatest Rock performances ever recorded. To be in the same building where this all went down, was a humbling experience and one I won’t soon forget (and the Rangers got shutout by the Hurricanes 4-0, lol).

Then today at lunch I decided to hit the subway and see yet another historical Zeppelin landmark in person, the building on the cover of Physical Graffiti.

Now what I’ve learned from this little trip is that the designer of the cover, Peter Corriston, seems to have cut a floor off the building (artistic liberties, I guess). Regardless, this was such a cool experience and I was even able to get a cup of tea (Tea for One? HA!) in the basement of the building, (under the last “I” on the album cover), at a really cool shop called, “Physical Graffitea“. WHAT A PUN! Also, Robert Plant has visited… COOL!

Once I was done on St. Marks Pl, I walked a couple of blocks over to a really cool record shop on E 6th St. (2 blocks away), called A-1 Records. It was a cramped space but the selection they had was one of the most diverse I’ve ever seen. 10/10 – just a really cool day with a great vibe.

Been a while…

Man, what a weird bit of time that has passed….

I had the idea to do this blog coming out of the COVID pandemic when things were still somewhat calm, then life quickly began to pick back up. While I may have not been writing as much as I had initially intended (or at all, for that matter, cut me some slack), I was out livin’ life to the fullest, man.

In the time since my last entry, I’ve been busy doing all of the things I love; discovering new music, hitting up record shops, taking my dog for walks, going to shows with my lady, discovering a love for reading, and of course getting a little stoned from time to time. You know, the essentials.

We’re now in 2025 and I’m another year older (wiser? maybe?) and social media just ain’t cutting it for me. The platforms that I once spent so much time on connecting with friends have begun to drain me mentally and emotionally. Because of this, I’m making it a point to use the downtime of the winter to get back into the habit of journaling.

I don’t have any plans to do any LPs of the week this time around as it just demands too much time (I’m a bit of an OCD freak, kay?) but what I do have plans for is sharing what I’m up to for anyone that is interested. I feel that I cannot truly get the vibe I want across through my traditional method of Instagram so I’m giving this a shot. At the end of the day, my goal here is to be more reflective and in the moment.

With all of that being said, if you find this blog and are interested in the ramblings and events of a 32 year-old who is still trying to “make it” in a rock band…

*hold up, shameless plug incoming*

…welcome aboard. Hope you can find something here that is interesting; whether that be a new record, a new band (RADAR WAVES , DUDE), piece of gear, or your next favorite read.

Thanks for taking a look.
